Why am I blogging about what I believe?

Hi, I'm Stephanie. I am a wife, a mother of young children, and a Mormon or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lately, I have felt the need to blog about my convictions because I feel so strongly about what I believe. I feel strongly about my beliefs because they bring me peace, hope and happiness in facing the challenges of every-day life. Not only do they do that, but they also add meaning to my life and help me know where I came from, why I am here on earth, and where I am going after this life. Recently, one of my best friends growing up passed away as a result of a tragic accident. Knowing some of the answers to those questions (mentioned above) has given me peace through this time, knowing that I will see my friend again and that she is in a good place. I know that everyone has their own beliefs and their own way of living their lives. I respect others and their beliefs. One thing we believe in our Church is that every human being on this earth is a child of God and created in His image, and as such, we are all brothers and sisters. As we are brothers and sisters, we believe it is important to respect others' religions and beliefs. Our first prophet, Joseph Smith, wrote a document called the Articles of Faith to help others understand what we believe as a church. One of those Articles of Faith states: "We claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." The belief that we are brothers and sisters also helps us as Mormons to want to share what we believe. Our beliefs have greatly helped us in our lives and so we want to help those around us. Have you ever read a really good book or tried a really great recipe and wanted to share it with your friends? It's kind of like that. We don't want to force our religion on others, but we do want to offer it to those who are interested or who are searching for truth, because of what our religion has done for us in our lives. Jesus Christ is at the very center of our church. We worship Him as the Son of God and our Savior. Because of His sacrifice and because He died for us, we can find true happiness in this life and in the life to come. We study His life and seek to be like Him in our lives.
I will write in more detail about what we believe later, but I want to get some of your thoughts. Have you ever heard of the Mormons? What do you want to share with me about your religious beliefs that have helped you in your life?
